Waneka Lake Pickleball Courts

Waneka Lake Park wraps around a reservoir on the eastern side of Lafayette, and the pickleball courts here have become one of the most popular free outdoor options in Boulder County. On a clear day the Front Range mountains provide a backdrop behind every shot, which makes this one of the more scenic places to play in the region. The courts are free, open to the public, and accessible year-round.

The courts sit near the main parking lot off Caria Drive, keeping the walk from your car short. Multiple courts allow for simultaneous games, and on weekend mornings you will usually find a mix of open play and informal organized rounds happening side by side. The Lafayette pickleball community uses this spot as a gathering point, and regulars often help newer players get comfortable with the rules and basic strategy.

Shade is limited since the courts are fully exposed, so bringing water and sun protection is a good idea between May and September when temperatures can climb. Restroom facilities are available in the park, and the nearby trail system makes it easy to pair a pickleball session with a walk or jog around the lake.

No fee and no reservation are required for open play. Weekend mornings and weekday evenings tend to be the busiest windows, so arriving a bit early improves your chances of jumping right into a game without a long wait.
